About the Author
Bruce Fink is a practicing Lacanian psychoanalyst and analytic supervisor in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He trained as a psychoanalyst in France for seven years with―and is now a member of―the psychoanalytic institute Lacan created shortly before his death, the École de la Cause Freudienne in Paris. He is also an affiliated member of the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

It's awesome: Perhaps the only published volume of Lacanian case studies

This volume is a true gem. It's one of the few places I've found where Lacanian principles are applied to real clinical cases, and the results are illuminating and highly instructive. To my mind, one can more easily understand Lacanian analysis when "seeing" it ("hearing" it might be more apropos) in practice, and one can also imagine more clearly the contrast with other approaches. Fink describes at length both some of the reasons and some of the problems of the decline of the case study in the analytic world, and it is a problem. For one thing, the whole point of not only psychoanalytic practice, but Lacanian practice especially, in contrast to "evidence-based approaches" is the uniqueness of each individual subjectivity! Though I am not a Lacanian, I am a practicing psychodynamically oriented clinician and have already found Fink's case discussions here affecting my practice, especially in terms of alerting my ear to the subtletites of how language is spoken by (and how language "speaks") my patients.

excellent lacanian BIble!!! Bruce Fink writes as if lacaian theory and clinic were so simple and we know how difficult is to read and understand Lacan.He is definetively the great master in the usa for the transmission of LAcan's teachings.This volume and volume I are a great achievement and should be recommended to lacanian practicians nadn non lacanians that want to be informed and updated with lacanain theory and practice.

Bruce Fink does not succumb to the anxiety reducing techniques many writers choose when faced with not understanding. Faithful to his desire, to let Lacan be heard to the English speaking world among others, he chose a collection of papers that present an advance in psychoanalytic theory and technique, by visiting again its past.
