What Arnsperger essentially does is apply the Integral framework (of quadrants and levels) to the field of economics, thus filling in those many areas that traditional economics has left out of the picture. Arnsperger is able to flesh out the beginnings of a truly comprehensive and Integral economics. All of the interior factors (of the "I" and "we"), overlooked or unseen by the previous models, are taken into account in this model, and thus a truly Integral Economic Model begins to emerge, covering all of the major dimensions of human being-in-the-world. About the Author

Christian Arnsperger is currently a Senior Research Fellow with the Belgian National Science Foundation (F.R.S.-FNRS) and a professor at the Université catholique de Louvain. He is the author of Critical Political Economy, published by Routledge in 2008.

A brilliant academic work on the inevitable evolution of economics, from the inside. As a non-economist I learned the nuanced history of the field and its inherent shortcomings that are so obvious to those of us not constrained by that world-view. Would have liked more examples on the likely practices of the next evolutionary phase.

This book presents a new theoretical framework through which to understand the role of regional powers in creating and maintaining regional security orders.

As a result of the retreat of the global powers since the end of the Cold War, it has become clear that international security dynamics are less explicable without considering the regional level as a primary focus for most states. The authors contend that these dynamics, which include the identification, management and prevention of security threats, are heavily influenced by regional powers.

The regional level in this text is defined on the basis of regional sub-systems, more specifically Regional Security Complexes. Within this context, the authors utilize their framework to address how security orders are defined and how regional powers are identified. The focus then turns to an analysis of how the roles and foreign policy orientations of regional powers, conditioned by the presence of material capabilities, affect the development of regional security orders. The authors then present a comparative analysis of Russia, Brazil and India within their own security complexes to demonstrate an application of the framework.

Joe Deer is Distinguished Professor of Musical Theatre and Director of The Musical Theatre Initiative at Wright State University. Brief, clear, but also comprehensive

Full disclosure: I have had the pleasure of music directing a few productions that Joe Deer directed--Carousel, The Fantasticks, ...Spelling Bee. Because I knew how effective he is as a director, I purchased this book to help me as I directed a musical September 2015.

Very few books, especially textbooks, manage to be both brief and comprehensive. "Directing in Musical Theatre: An Essential Guide" contains everything you need to know, but nothing superfluous. It is packed with details and examples, but it is not dense. It covers the entire process of directing--analyzing the script, collaborating with designers and creative staff, running auditions and rehearsals, coaching actors, and much, much more--but still manages to be easy and engaging to read.

Joe Deer does a remarkable job of avoiding redundancy while maintaining clarity. That's not easy when the text is this comprehensive, because many aspects of production are deeply interrelated. If there is something from another chapter that is a prerequisite for the current chapter, he always refers you to the appropriate place in the text. That allowed me to skim material I was already comfortable with without worrying that I would get lost later on. The book perfectly dissects, organizes, orders, and reassembles the process of directing.

I have music directed around 60 productions, and I've taught voice lessons for 15+ years, so I had already developed a vocabulary for communicating with actors. "Directing in Musical Theatre" helped me build the structure I needed--script analysis, rehearsal preparation, etc.--to feel comfortable communicating my vision for the production. I truly would have felt lost without it.

Whether you're looking for an overview or something more in-depth, "Directing in Musical Theatre" is a great choice to suit either need. I can't recommend it highly enough.

This text is so helpful to directors and choreographers. It covers so many details of the directing process including technical, artistic, and collaborative obstacles one may face. I highly recommend this book for young directors as well as to those who are looking for great references and a guide to really clarify their own process. About the Author

Roger Bartlett was Professor of Sports Biomechanics in the School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Sciences, University of Otago, New Zealand until he retired in August 2013; he formerly held professorships at Manchester Metropolitan University, Staffordshire University and Sheffield Hallam University, all in the UK. He is an Invited Fellow of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS) and an Honorary Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences, of which he was Chairman from 1991-1994. He is a former editor-in-chief of the Journal of Sports Sciences and Sports Biomechanics. He is co-author of Sports Biomechanics: Reducing Injury Risk and Improving Sports Performance and co-editor of several other sports science books.
