Review

Naomi Stanford's latest edition of Organization Design: Engaging with change is a lively, engaging romp through the theories and process of positive change. Studded with current examples of companies that have challenged traditional business models, the book is topical and instantly applicable to the problems faced by contemporary organizations. As an architect who helps organizations to devise space strategies and designs for new workplaces, I was riveted by the similarities between redesigning the organization and redesigning the spaces in which it operates. This book should be essential reading for designers wishing to match their ideas to the mission and key metrics of companies. Highly recommended.

An excellent guide for forward-thinking companies and environmental change
By Pangai
Dr. Stanford’s latest book is remarkable, and one in which every CEO and Executive should read. This tome is detailed, intuitive in its flow, and balances the theoretical with the practical and pragmatic. I thought the examples she used illustrated her points clearly, providing a "visual" for context and content.
Understanding the importance of organizational design is crucial for providing organization flexibility and adaptation to its environment, and this “handbook” provides practicable avenues for implementation. Having worked for several multi-billion dollar companies, I can personally attest to the accuracy of the pitfalls when organizational design becomes a reactive process of organization charts and "re-engineering," rather than a planned out process of alignment of goals, resources, and mission.
Dr. Stanford’s approach is fluid and constant, and is well aligned for forward-thinking companies. I recommend it highly to all who strive to maximize his or her organizational potential.
